How to distinguish between hot air nonwoven fabric and spunbond nonwoven fabric produced by nonwoven equipment for baby diaper Saudi Arabia/Thailand?

July 07,2023

The surface layer is one of the main components of diapers, and it is also a very important part.

The surface layer is in direct contact with the baby, so the comfort of the surface layer will also directly affect the baby. Below, we will tell you the difference between two widely used diaper surface materials - hot air non-woven fabric and spunbond non-woven fabric manufactured by nonwoven equipment for baby diaper,  and how to identify them.

The difference and advantages and disadvantages between two widely used diaper surface materials - hot air non-woven fabric and spunbond non-woven fabric.

1. Production principle

HOT AIR NON WOVEN FABRIC---Belonging to a type of hot air bonded (hot rolled, hot air) non-woven fabric, hot air non-woven fabric is a non-woven fabric that is formed by bonding short fibers through the fiber mesh using hot air from the drying equipment after being carded.
PP SPUNBOND NONWOVEN FABRIC---After extruding and stretching the polymer to form continuous filaments, the filaments are laid into a web, which then undergoes self bonding, thermal bonding, chemical bonding, or mechanical reinforcement methods to turn the web into non-woven fabric. Spunbond non-woven fabric produced by nonwoven equipment for hygiene application is a long fiber, but its raw material is plastic chips.

2. Comparison of advantages and disadvantages

HOT AIR NON WOVEN FABRIC: It has the characteristics of high Fill power, good elasticity, soft feel, strong warmth retention, good air permeability and water permeability. But its strength is low and it is prone to deformation.

SPUNBOND NON WOVEN FABRIC: It is made by directly spinning polymer particles into a mesh without the use of fibers, and then heating and pressing them with rollers. It has excellent mechanical properties, excellent tensile strength, elongation at break, tear strength, and other indicators. The thickness is very thin, but its softness and breathability are not as good as hot-air non-woven fabric.

3. How to differentiate

How to distinguish between hot air non-woven fabrics and spunbond non-woven fabrics?
(1).Handfeel difference
The most direct method is for you to touch it with your hand. Hot air non-woven diapers will feel softer and more comfortable, while spunbonded non-woven fabrics will feel harder to touch
(2).Gently pull
Take the diaper and gently pull on the surface of the diaper. Hot air non-woven fabric can easily pull out the silk, but if it is spunbond non-woven fabric, it is difficult to pull out the entire piece of silk.
