How can spunbond nonwoven fabric be used in agricultural and horticultural industry in Saudi Arabia/Thailand?

February 24,2023

Non-woven fabrics are widely used in the agricultural and horticultural industry.

They can be used for thermal insulation and covering, frost prevention, insect prevention, soil and water conservation, soilless cultivation, artificial vegetation, lawn protection, plant root protection, seedling cloth, etc.

The fabric covering with good permeability, moisture absorption and light transmittance has the functions of cold prevention, moisture retention, frost prevention, frost prevention, light transmission and air conditioning, and has the characteristics of light weight, convenient use and corrosion resistance. The thickened non-woven fabric can also be used for multi-layer covering due to its good thermal insulation effect.

In recent years, non-woven fabrics,  which are widely used in the construction industry, packaging, medical and health care, and daily consumer goods, are being used in the breeding of vegetables, flowers, rice, and other seedlings, as well as in the anti-freeze damage of tea and flowers, replacing and making up for the lack of plastic film covering for thermal insulation.

1. Transplantation and replanting of garden trees. Before planting large trees and small seedlings, the non-woven fabric can be paved in the tree pit before planting, and then the nutrient soil can be paved. The survival rate of planting garden trees by this method is high, and the water and fertilizer can be preserved.

2. In winter, greenhouse and outdoor seedling cultivation are covered with floating surface (25-30g/280cm). It can prevent wind blowing and increase temperature. One side of the seedbed shall be compacted with soil, the other side shall be compacted with brick and soil, or bamboo or coarse iron wire can be used to make a small arch shed, and the non-woven fabric shall be covered on it, and the surrounding shall be compacted and insulated with brick or soil. Vegetables and flowers covered need more sunlight to be uncovered in the morning and covered in the evening. Floating surface covering can raise the temperature of about 2 ℃ 10 cm from the ground surface, and increase the ground temperature by 1-2 ℃. Vegetables covered can be listed 5-7 days earlier, and increase the yield by about 15%.

3. It is used for ceiling. Put a non-woven fabric as the ceiling in the greenhouse and greenhouse, and the distance between the ceiling and the plastic greenhouse film is 15-20 cm; A thermal insulation layer can be formed to increase the temperature of the shed by 3-5 ℃. It can be opened during the day and closed at night. The interlayer must be closed tightly to be effective.

4. Covered outside the small arch shed (specification: 80-100gsm/280cm) to replace the straw curtain for thermal insulation, which saves 20% of the cost and greatly extends the service life; A layer of non-woven fabric and plastic film can also be covered on the small arch shed, which can increase the temperature by 5-8 ℃.

5. For shading the sun. Cover the seedbed directly with non-woven fabric, cover it in the morning and uncover it in the evening, which can effectively improve the whole seedling. Small and medium seedlings of vegetables and flowers can be directly covered in summer.

6. Before the arrival of the cold wave, directly cover the tea, flowers and other crops that are vulnerable to frost damage with non-woven fabrics, which can effectively reduce the loss of frost damage.
